As many of you know from our Facebook post, Rob and I both turn 50 over the next two months. We decided to do a year-long celebration of 50 new things to us or 50 new adventures, however you want to word it! 🙂

“You are to consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim freedom in the land for all its inhabitants. It will be your Jubilee, when each of you is to return to his property and each of you to his clan. The fiftieth year will be your Jubilee; you are not to sow, reap what grows by itself, or harvest its untended vines.” -Leviticus 25:10-11

Who doesn’t love to live by Leviticus? lol! Seriously, I wished we had planned better so we could take a year off, but alas, we met at 19 and have not made the best decisions concerning our future when it came to finances. Don’t get me wrong, though, it has always been an adventure and I (laura) would not change any moment with Rob for any amount of money in the world! Although, I might rent him out! I kid.

When we asked for suggestions on Facebook, I will admit that I was a little saddened by how little we have experienced so far in life. We have walked this earth fifty years. Often times, covetousness strikes me as I listen to my friends tell about their travels … I often feel like the old couple in UP! (“Carl & Ellie,” Rob)

I think meeting at such a young age and growing up together has provided us with the feelings that we are young. I mean, if we are honest, we do not feel like we are 50. I think most times, we still think we are in our 20s. We missed the “how to be an adult” class. Which at first, made me sad, but now I realize how much God’s hand has and continues to be on us.

A little background on who we are for those who stumble upon this blog. Rob was born Jan. 20, 1976 to Robert and Yulonde Trahan in Crowley, LA. He was the cutest little thing and they moved to Houston pretty quick. Laura was born in Little Rock, AR, to Charles and Stephany Kincaid. Rob and Laura met at college at the University of Central Arkansas. Rob had come to Arkansas on a voice scholarship, Laura on an Honors Scholarship. They met at a Pantera concert in March of 1995. It was his master way of moshing in the pit-oh, also the eyes and hair that swept me off my feet. (“Pro tip for the guys, invite the girl to your band practice the next day. Works every time,” Rob) We married in 1998. Had our first born boy in 2000 and our daughter in 2004. We are full on Gen X and will most likely have a merch store with Gen X products to help pay for these adventures. We share a side business where we market and do creative work. Rob works full time as a Creative Manager and Laura works training AI.

My mom died at the age of 57 and I cannot imagine how much of life and this earth she missed out on, but I also know how many memories I have of her! SO here we go, embarking on this year of new adventures and memories. I will put the list we made so far from your suggestions, but we will also play it by ear at times-because sometimes those are the best memories.
