Introduction
He is the image of jthe invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is sthe beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. – 1 Collossians 1:15-17
The beauty of God’s sovereignty is that it is displayed through Christ. We are able to see it first hand, walking on earth alongside us.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. – John 1:1-3, 14
The God of all the universe, who was there at creation, walks alongside us during the journey to the cross and even now through the Spirit! He loves us enough to humble himself and come to earth so that we may live. I don’t know about you, but that makes me want to bow and worship!
Adoration
Father God, oh how we can not fathom a sovereign, All-Powerful God humbling himself to walk alongside us on this Earth. A God willing to die for us! You are so magnificent that words can not express your glory!
so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy.
You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. – Psalm 65:8-9
Confession
“O Father, we are gathered before you, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, whose chosen dwelling place is with the broken and contrite, to confess that we have sinned in thought and word and deed; we have not loved you with all our heart and soul, we have not loved you with all our mind and strength; we have not even loved our neighbor as ourselves. In your mercy, deepen our sorrow for the wrong we have done and for the good we have left undone, so that we may hate our sin with a holy hatred. But, please Father, do not leave us in sorrow. With you, O Lord, there is forgiveness. In your mercy, restore the joy of our salvation; so that we may love you with a holy love. Amen. ” – Missio Dei Confessional.
Thanksgiving
Father God, thank you for dwelling among us. Thank you for loving us enough to die for us.
I will bless the LORD pat all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together! I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Oh, fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him have no lack! The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. – Psalm 34:1-10
Thank you Lord for loving us and giving us blessing upon blessing. Amen
