Introduction

As we stand on the summit of this journey to the cross, it is important to reflect on the Davidic Covenant a little longer before leaping off the mountain into the glorious New Covenant that God graciously gives us through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

As was mentioned in church, R.C. Sproul said the following quote about the covenant God made with David:

“The promise of an enduring Davidic kingdom has been called the summit of the entire OT.” When you look back from the Davidic covenant, you see the path from Abraham to David. And when you look ahead, you see the culmination of God’s promise to David in Jesus.

With God’s covenant with David, we know David is the prophesied true son of Abraham. God’s covenant with Abraham will be established through David. The Davidic covenant takes the promise of an elect seed in the covenant with Abraham and places it on David. Now we can look forward and see how God’s covenant with David was fulfilled. Because, after all, God is faithful to fulfill what he promises.

Fellow travelers, we have made it halfway to the celebration of Easter. We have seen the promises of God fulfilled through Noah, Abraham, Moses, and now David. Enjoy this last half of the journey as it will have many ups and downs, but do so persevere in the Lord, determined to listen and grow closer to Him during this season. Because after all:

“The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.” – Psalm 103:19

Adoration

Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen! – Psalm 72:18-19

Oh Father God! May your steadfast love endure forever and ever! God, there is none more worthy and mighty as you! Your kingdom is majestic, your rule is just! How unworthy are we of such love! We honor you Lord! We exalt the King of David, the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace-the Messiah! Glory to God in the highest. Amen.

Confession

“O Father, we are gathered before you, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, whose chosen dwelling place is with the broken and contrite, to confess that we have sinned in thought and word and deed; we have not loved you with all our heart and soul, we have not loved you with all our mind and strength; we have not even loved our neighbor as ourselves. In your mercy, deepen our sorrow for the wrong we have done and for the good we have left undone, so that we may hate our sin with a holy hatred. But, please Father, do not leave us in sorrow. With you, O Lord, there is forgiveness. In your mercy,restore the joy of our salvation; so that we may love you with a holy love. Amen. ” – Missio Dei Confessional.

Thanksgiving

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever! – 1 Chronicles 16:34

Father God, thank you for loving us! Thank you for hearing our prayers! Thank you for forgiving us and dying for our sins. My we represent you with all glory and honor today! In Jesus name, Amen.

Supplication

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people. – 1 Timothy 2:1

Local Church
Pray that your local church continues to be a light for the community, that the church shares the love of God to the ends of the earth. Pray that the local church becomes a new home for many this Easter Sunday! Pray that those within the church who are sick stay healthy.

Community

Pray for your community, that the lost are found and the found grow closer to the Lord. Pray that kindness between community members reign supreme and that peacemakers step forth to be a light for Christ in the everyday battles against darkness. Pray for finances throughout the community and those that hurt.

World
Pray for the Ukraine/Russia Conflict. Pray for softening of hearts, persevering of the saints, provisions and safety of civilians, God’s glory to be shown throughout the war. Pray that as tensions continue to grow, that communication would strengthen and compromises would be made. Pray that those displaced can return home soon. Pray for the financial consequences of war on society that God continues to meets the needs of His people. Pray for those who are hurting internationally and nationally. Pray for the missionaries carrying out the message of God.
