Introduction

Journeys sometimes are messy, rocky, treacherous, but this week we keep hearing God whisper to us, “I am here with you. I will protect you. I am your refuge. I am your strength. I love you.”

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place—
the Most High, who is my refuge
no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the wadder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;
I will protect him, because he knows my name.
When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” -Psalm 91

God holds fast to you. Hear this today! His pinions surround you. His angels are commanded to guard you in all your ways. He answers you when you call his name. He rescues you. He saves you. The Lord is a secure defense to those who take refuge in Him.

Adoration

It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens. -Jeremiah 10:12

Oh Mighty Savior! We worship you today! May our praises be pleasing to your ears. Only you God make things possible. You keep the earth in orbit and the world spinning. You are all-powerful and lovely! We adore you and praise your holy name. Amen.

Confession

“O Father, we are gathered before you, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, whose chosen dwelling place is with the broken and contrite, to confess that we have sinned in thought and word and deed; we have not loved you with all our heart and soul, we have not loved you with all our mind and strength; we have not even loved our neighbor as ourselves. In your mercy, deepen our sorrow for the wrong we have done and for the good we have left undone, so that we may hate our sin with a holy hatred. But, please Father, do not leave us in sorrow. With you, O Lord, there is forgiveness. In your mercy,restore the joy of our salvation; so that we may love you with a holy love. Amen. ” – Missio Dei Confessional.
