Introduction

God graciously gives us Scripture to allow us to rest and find comfort in who we are traveling alongside each day. After all, can we really face defeats, discouragements, battles, etc. without walking beside the most-powerful, almighty God.

He did, after all, speak and the world was created (Gen 1). He only breathed and humanity was created. (Gen 2:7). By the word of His mouth, God alone sustains His creation (Romans 11:36, Col 1:16-17, Heb 1:3).

The Lord controls not only our beginning and end, but everything in between – just like this journey to the cross!

The LORD kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up.

The LORD makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts.

He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor.

For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and on them he has set the world. – 1 Samuel 12:6-8

Adoration

Father God, Oh how we adore you! There is none like you in all the heavens and the earth! Our souls can rest knowing that as much as we search or look there is no greater than the great I AM holding us all together!

I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
    and his greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
The Lord is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.
All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
and all your saints shall bless you!
They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
    and tell of your power,
to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.
[The Lord is faithful in all his words
and kind in all his works.] – Psalm 145:1-13

Confession

“O Father, we are gathered before you, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, whose chosen dwelling place is with the broken and contrite, to confess that we have sinned in thought and word and deed; we have not loved you with all our heart and soul, we have not loved you with all our mind and strength; we have not even loved our neighbor as ourselves. In your mercy, deepen our sorrow for the wrong we have done and for the good we have left undone, so that we may hate our sin with a holy hatred. But, please Father, do not leave us in sorrow. With you, O Lord, there is forgiveness. In your mercy, restore the joy of our salvation; so that we may love you with a holy love. Amen. ” – Missio Dei Confessional.

Thanksgiving

Father God, thank you for your sovereignty! We know in this time of uncertainty or even in our day-to-day walks with you that you are beside us, gently guiding and loving us in the way we should go. Thank you for always mending the broken-hearted. Thank you for always loving unconditionally. Thank you for always supplying endlessly grace and mercy to the undeserving. We love you God! Amen.
